2ND ANNUAL HEADQUARTER SCION SHOW & MEET
After three months of planning it finally paid off!! This past Saturday, June 7, 2008 Headquarter Toyota held its 2nd Annual Headquarter Scion Show & Meet. Though the registration process was not set to begin until 10am, enthusiastic Scion owners started appearing as early as 8:45am to secure the best real estate in the lot. It couldn’t have been a nicer Miami day with amazing blue skies and yes, the bright hot Miami sun shining down on the event. But Scion owners are experienced in tailgating, come prepared to set up carps and tents for protection and to ensure a good time is had by all.
Over 200 people visited the grounds in a sea of blue and lime green Scion t-shirts and beije baseball caps. This year, the event was turned into a Fair thanks to the sponsorship of Power 96 who set up a bounce house for the kids, basketball hoop for those wanting to dribble, and even led a Roll the Dice contest with a Red 2008 Scion as 1st Price. An attendee did walk away with the 2nd price of a 5 Year Free Oil Change certificate having rolled only 4 out of 5 S-C-I-O- letters.
There was enough food to serve a small town. Participants were served gourmet hamburgers and hotdogs, sodas, ice-cream popsicles, pop-corn and cotton candy contribution of Power 96. Sausages and more hot dogs, provided by Headquarter Toyota and Pico de Gallo (Colombian specialty) courtesy of Caracol Radio. By 3pm, just when the crowd was ready for a snack, el Zol 95 joined the festivities with pork, black beans and rice, plantains and much more. El Vacilon’s morning DJ Nio Encedio and the Pichy Boys along with Zuper Mario provided the afternoon entertainment and helped Jerónimo Esteve Jr. lead the award ceremony. Also present, filming the event was MegaTV (channel 22) who interviewed Jose Nuñez (Scion Manager) and prepared a full event news story to air Monday, June 9th on their 5pm News.
Customized Scion’s flooded the Headquarter Toyota lot with white, orange, wine colored and even lilac tC’s competing with state-of-the-art media equipment such as individual seat monitors, rear custom speaker boxes with high output sub-woofers. xB’s and xD’s with full Lambo door’s and highly modified engines impressed the judges who awarded trophies in the categories of:
